077 – Junk

UPDATE! I was just way too low on energy on Sunday to do a Lazy Sunday Strip. (@marctoons pointed out the irony in that one.) So why not check out some of the cool sketches I got at C2E2 instead!

So, I was really starting to get pretty jealous at the fact that the best comic I’ve ever drawn wasn’t even for my own site! So, I figured I’d do something about that and make a second version of the same strip with my characters. It didn’t turn out quite the same, (and definitely not as good) but it is kinda cool to compare the two.

Also, there will be no drawing session this Saturday evening because I will be at the C2E2 Comic Con in Chicago! This is my first time going to a comic convention and I am really excited about it. I’m gonna stop by the Half Pixel booth and buy some merch, gonna pre-order me a Rice Boy book, and I’m gonna get some commissioned sketches from some of my favorite artists. It should be fun!

You can buy the original art for this strip! Click here to learn more.

“pretty” as in “nice scenery” or “I’d like to date that vending machine”?

Have fun at C2E2 Matt! You should take pictures…and post them…for us who aren’t able to go. Just a thought. Do you think that you’d have a table at any con anytime soon?

Maybe in a year or two. I need a book and some merch first.

Its just like you read my mind! You look as if know a lot concerning this, siimlar to you wrote the book in it or something. There’s no doubt that that you could do with some pics to drive the message home somewhat, but except for that, it will be fantastic blog..

The B&W strip looks really good. I really enjoy seeing the B&W strips of the webcomickers I follow before they color them. The line work is really sharp with the B&W.

I’m assuming that the other robots are almost like scavengers and take stuff they find and add it to the heap, thus the mountain on the island is basically a large trash pile?

At least they can find somethings to keep them busy. Looks like I see a set of Golf Clubs and the top of a missile. Just don’t combine the two and they should be good. :)

Looks cool B&W. Your Marooned piece reminded me of your first Robot Beach strip. You and your sunsets. :)

I’ll be at C2E2 on Saturday as well. I’ll be wearing a yellow “Italian Stallion” shirt, so say hi if you see me.

  7. SladeJT says:

I swear one of the stuff in this Shrine to Synthetic Stuff is a rocket. I also see (obviously) golf clubs and what looks like an automobile’s wheel.

  8. Chris says:

Hehe so did the robots self assemble out of junk left on the island, or were they put there somewhat like Wall-e to clean up all the junk?

  9. Moroni says:

A mysterious junk yard filled with little enigmatic robots? Well you got my curiosity on… oh hey, golf clubs!

  10. FYI Matt, I upgraded the site awhile back and the URL changed – here’s the proper one:
