157 – Not a Good Idea

One hundred and fifty six strips have convinced me of a few things. They have convinced me that I love cartooning and that I plan on doing it for many years to come. They have also convinced me that I have a good thing going here with this strip and with a bit more effort and focus, Robot Beach could really turn into something special.

And so, I am taking this opportunity to sorta “relaunch” the strip in a small way. Everything I have drawn up to this point should be considered the “Prelude.” This week the show begins…

…also, three strips a week.

This comic is SOLD!

This is a great page! You nailed how alone Robot is…

  2. Really nice strip, Matt!

His reiteration of “This may not have been a good idea” really shows how once we commit ourselves to stepping outside our comfort zone (which he had really done) we find that we often start doubting our abilities to move forward. I’m sure there have been tons of great expeditions and discoveries that have had those same words uttered. Often I find that the greatest adventures with the most reward are those that you have to fight your way into.

The emotion you give robot, like @Ed was saying is really great.

156 strips have convinced us as readers that you love what you do as well, and we hope you continue doing this for many, many, many years to come as well. Your description of considering what came before as a “Prelude” really makes me excited to see what lies ahead for our intrepid adventurer.

Nice going, Matt. Roll on with yer bad self, and I look forward to seeing what you do with the strip as you dig down with renewed dedication. BAM!

reminds me of the last scene in Papillion with McQueen just giggling out in the middle of the ocean free. Buck up Bot or Buckle Up its going to be a bumpy ride but worth it.

I’m very anxious to see what happens next to our friends. I agree, you’ve set the scene with a great prelude, and now the readers’ relationship with these characters will flower and mature. I’ve become very attached to each of them, and I’m enjoying the ride. Thanks for your dedication and effort.

  11. Absolutely beautiful work, here! I’m honored to have you as an advertiser. Keep up the amazing art!

Wonderful looking strip! I love the beginning of an adventure and I’m looking forward to clues to where it’s going. I hope Carl and Larry aren’t left far behind.
