Well a whole lot has been happening with Robot Beach lately, so I wanted to give you all a quick update on the goings ons.

First, everyone should have received the original art last week from the first rush of sales. I wanted to thank you guys for your patience as I worked through the bugs in the printing process. My concern was that you all got as high a quality product as possible and I am happy to report that everything has turned out great. Anyone who orders from me for now on can expect to receive shipment in just a few business days.

Secondly, I will be on the November 4th episode of The Process Diary Podcast. Paul Caggegi was kind enough to invite me on his show to talk about my comic. Everyone should head over to his site right now and listen to the discussion he had with Steve Ogden about Steve’s own comic Moon Town.

Thirdly, in an effort to spread the word about my little comic, I’ve taken a number of ads out on some of my favorite comic sites around the net. So far it has proven to be a very interesting experience. I’ve placed cheap ads on sites with a modest amount of traffic, and more expensive ads on sites with crazy amounts of traffic. It’s fun to compare the performance between them!

Finally, last week I had the exciting opportunity to have Robot Beach critiqued live on Ustream by Scott Kurtz of PVP fame. Scott is about as big a name as you can get in the webcomics community and I have been a long time fan. Not only does he have an awesome comic, but he also contributed to a fantastic book and podcast series about the art and business of making webcomics. I can think of no one more qualified to critique my work than him.

Scott had nothing but good things to say about my comic, which was a great feeling. He liked the style, the writing, the site design. He told me me that I had a real good thing going here and gave me the “Scott Kurtz seal of approval.” Very awesome. I kinda wish he would have given me some critical feedback on areas I needed to improve on, but I know that he wasn’t just blowing smoke up my butt to make me feel good because there were other artists who’s worked he critiqued along with mine and he did point out to them the areas that they needed to improve upon. It’s probably safe to assume that for the most part, I am off to a good start and the areas I need improvement (the stiff poses, the obtuse writing) on will be addressed in time.

All in all, It was an awesome experience and one that I will not soon forget.
