This sort of adds always appear like someone came up with a wonderful animation/advertisement/short film and had a bunch of clients bid on who wanted to use it to hawk their product. The add itself is completely detached from what it is supposed to represent. It could have been used for anything from beverages to Depends. All well, great imagery though. i’m a sucker for good computer animation.

Heh, yeah. I don’t like these kinds of ads either. Cut off the last few frames and it has no advertising value whatsoever. But if it weren’t for (seemingly?) misguided marketing departments, who would pay for cool existential philosophical CG art?

Anyhow, he reminds me of Data. Looks kind of like him (Brent Spiner) as well.

Ugh, I hate to say this, Matt, but I abhore this type of advertising. The message is so beautiful, and so inspiring; the production value and music and everything grabs me, hooks me in, makes me think “ahah! Somebody GETS it! Somebody gets what I’M about!!” And then those last twelve frames totally and utterly shatter all of that by associating that message with a product. Whether it’s “drink Coke” or “Johnny Walker” it’s *facepalm* on this end of the screen.

But I sure get the correlation with Robot Beach, tho! That part is pretty cool.
